Windows Media Support
HyperRESEARCH and HyperTRANSCRIBE running under Microsoft Windows require the installation of 3rd party software to support digital audio and video media. This article explains what 3rd party software is recommended, where to download the installers, and how to install it.
For all versions of HyperRESEARCH 4.5.0 and higher, we strongly recommend you install the LAV Filter pack for Microsoft DirectShow. The number of media formats supported by DirectShow alone is severely limited. The LAV Filter pack is a free set of additional formats for Microsoft's DirectShow.

For all versions of HyperRESEARCH 4.0.3 and earlier, if you want to display audio or video media, installing Quicktime for Windows is required. If you do not install Quicktime for Windows, you can still use HyperRESEARCH, but not with any audio or video sources.
For all versions of HyperTRANSCRIBE 1.6.1 and earlier, to use HyperTRANSCRIBE at all, you must install Quicktime for Windows. It is required to use HyperTRANSCRIBE.
LAV Filters for Microsoft DirectShow

Quicktime for Windows
For Windows 7, use Apple QuickTime 7 or later for Windows. You can download the Quicktime 7.7.6 installer here. For new installations of Quicktime on Windows 8, 10, or 11, you need to download the Quicktime 7.7.6 installer from this link, and be sure to reboot your computer after installation of Quicktime and before installing HyperRESEARCH.
