Greetings,

We are working on a summer research project, using the HyperResearch software installed on the three computers.

We have repeatedly received the following error message while trying to switch between cases, which forces us to save, close the program, and start it up again.

An execution error has occured.
If you want to report this error please click Report. After reporting the error you should save your work and restart the program.

We are not sure what this means, and we have not been able to identify anything specific that triggers the error message. Sometimes we are able to switch between cases within HyperResearch without any trouble, but sometimes the error message comes up and forces us to restart the program. On the CECELAB-PC56 computer in particular, the error seems to come up especially frequently.

Could you please help to solve this problem?

Sorry you've encountered a problem with HyperRESEARCH!

The fact that you're encountering an error message when trying to perform a very simple core ability of the program indicates that either the software's been corrupted on your computer system somehow, or that there's a problem with your study file.

To test the former, please make sure each computer you're using has the most current version of HyperRESEARCH installed. (In fact it's best to re-install the current version entirely even if you already have version 2.8.3 installed -- just to get a fresh start with the software.)

Forgive for resurrecting such an old thread, but after reviewing this today I then searched my emails to find the corresponding bug report, and came up empty.

When an execution error occurs in HyperRESERCH or HyperTRANSCRIBE, the dialog reporting the error provides a button labeled "Report".  Clicking that should open a new pre-addressed email in your default email client, and will contain the essential info needed to identify and resolve the issue.

So a tip for the readers here:  ideally you should never see an execution error, but if you do please use the Report button provided and include a brief description of the steps needed to reproduce the problem.  Once I'm made aware of an issue you've encountered and have that info, I can usually deliver a fix for you in just a couple days, sometimes sooner (my record is three minutes <g>).
